is located on the South East Coast. Approximately 15 mins., from the Airport. Binibeca or Binibequer ? The correct name locally is Binibequer and most road signs will use this name. Most english guide books (and english ) will refer to it as Binibeca. Around this area you will often see "Bini" used in places names reflecting the Moorish occupation (Bini means ‘belonging to the sons of…’ from Ben Arabic for son. Overview

Binibeca is a very popular quieter family oriented resort dominated by private villas and apartments. At one end is Binibequer Vell, a small apartment resort in the style of an old fishing village and which offers a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants. At the other end, where the beach is located, lies Binibequer Nou and neighbouring Cala Torret. The beach at Binibeca is a lovely family beach with gently shelving sands in a quiet cove, offering safe bathing for all the family.

While the resort is quiet ( even by menorcan standards) and perhaps more a place to chill it is close (by bus, taxi) to Punta Prima (by resort train) , Mahon and Es Castell for much more attractions, buzz and a change of scene. The area is divided up into 'discrete' areas. Binibequer Nou on the hill behind the beach is a slightly more exclusive development of privately owned villas.

Facilities

Beach

An attractive deep fine white sand beach with shaded picnic area at rear and free toiliets. Free parking at the rear at the roadside. The beach waters are protected via a headland on the horizon. Shallow shandy bottom and lined on both sides by rocks for great snorkeling. The 'famous' beach bar of Los Bucaneros even serves freshly cooked basic meals. Lifeguard. Pedalo and electric fun boats hire from beach. Sunbed and umbrella hire.

The warm shallow waters of this bay make this resort very popular with families with younger children. Though the beach is big enough if you need your space away from the little beach rats.

Commercial

Cala Torret also has a delicatessen, supermarket, launderette and car hire office.

A resort "road train" runs between Binibeca Vell, Binibeca, Cala Torret and Punta Prima with return journeys approximately 7 euros per person.

Banks can be found in the local town of San Lluis. Ten minutes drive or so along the coast is S'Algar a favourite water sports and diving centre.

See and Do

The deep beach is a major attraction of this resort with its fine, clean sand and a good variety of water sports and other facilities available to suit all tastes. Some of Menorcas' famous under water caves at nearby Cap D'en Font make this a good base for keen divers. And for the less enthusiastic divers there is great snorkelling just off the beach. If you fancy something a little bit more wild there is a very pretty virgin cove and beach ( Cala Biniparratx ) just up the coast westwards-follow the coast road to Binidali. A small limestone gorge with cut out caves near the beach.

Menorca Tips

There are some fabuous quality restaurants in the pretty neighbouring villages of Torret and S'Ullastrar.

There are delightful narrow track lanes all around the north of Binibeca to explore - even the thwack of a cricket bat on ball at the nerby Menorca Cricket Club

Children

There are some simple play areas towards Binibeca Vell and at Binibequer Vell, though they are not shaded.

Day-time Entertainment

The beautiful beach is the cente of day time activities in Binibeca, with electric fun boats amongst others to hire from the beach. There is a local diving school with some of Menoraca's famous diving around the corner at Cap D'en Font. The sheltered bay in front of the beach provides great snorkelling. Behind the beach there is a shaded area for beachside picknicks and across the road the is a small childrens play area. There is bicycle hire close to the beach. Nearby Punta Prima (reachable via a resort "train" ) is much bigger and has many more activities on hand. For water sports fans ten minutes drive or so along the coast is S'Algar - a favourite water sports centre.

Tennis

Relatively unknown, there are a couple of free to use public courts on the hill in Binibeca Nou- up the Cami des Cap de Roig about half way up on the left hand side. Bit run down but useable. In nearby Mahon/Sant Lluis there are high quality courts that can be rented.

Binibequer Vell

An attractive and well done mock up of a ' traditional fishing village' with small selection of (evening) Restaurants and Bars. Though it can be loud if you are staying there as voices and particularly ladies high heels fill the narrow passage ways.

Shopping

At Binibequer Vell there is a small array of souvenir shops, a mini supermarket, cash point. Cala Torret at the eastern end is a mock 'fishermans' apartments complex in a tiered pedestrian area set above the rocks. It has a small commercial centre with a handful of Bar Restaurants, a mini supermarket.

Menorca Tips

There is large Hypermarket in nearby Sant Lluis and a smaller very popular supermarket Sa Botega at S'Ullastrar, on the way to Sant Lluis.

Getting About

Buses - only three a day make the 20 minute trip into Mahon but good value at 1.60€ one way.

A one way journey by taxi from the airport should be around 25 Euros ( check price before starting )

During the May-mid October running several times a day, the mini "road train" follows the coast road to the nearby resort of Punta Prima. Approximately 7€ per person for a return trip.

Cova d´en Xoroi - Cova d´en Xoroi

Web site : www.covadenxoroi.com

Located in huge spectacular natural caves some 25m above the sea at the entrance to Cala en Porter bay. Take a look at our video below for a feel of this magical place.

Cova d´en Xoroi

A double bonus. Undoubtedly the most dramatic nightspot on the island. Set high, literally in the rocks, above the sea it's an atmospheric Cafe-bar areas with fantastic sea views by day. From 19:00 the music is soothing ambient sounds to watch the sunsets by and after 23:00-dawn a disco with one of the most original locations and atmospheres with famous guest DJs. There is a entrance charge during the day which includes a voucher for a drink-It's well worth it.

Opening times: 11:30 'til dawn. Daily May to October and weekends outside of these months.

Menorca Tips

Just 200 meters from Xoroi is a great Spanish Restaurant La Palette ( Leg of lamb recommended)

One of the Cafe Bar platforms

Nightime Entertainment

As with most smaller resorts in Menorca, evening entertainment here is generally to be found in the resort' bars but nothing that would ever compare to the neon jungle of the popular resorts along the south coast of Majorca. Mahon and Ciutadella however offer something for everyone, but with none of the "binge drink clubbing" to be found on Ibizia and Majorca.

In near by Punta Prima and Cala en Porter there are Hotels offering nightime entertainments and discos for big and small.
