Must See

Binibequer Vell

An attractive and well done mock up of a 'traditional fishing village' with small selection of (evening) Restaurants and Bars. Though it can be loud if you are staying there as voices and particularly ladies high heels! fill the narrow passage ways. There is also  Bar with a pool to use if you buy a drink (located in the commercial centre)

A double bonus. Undoubtedly the most dramatic nightspot on the island. Set high, literally in the rocks, above the sea it's an atmospheric Cafe-bar with fantastic sea views by day. From 19:00 the music is soothing ambient sounds to watch the sunsets by and after 23:00-dawn a disco with one of the most original locations and atmospheres with famous guest DJs. During July and August they have themed nights - more on this and other Clubs on Menorca.

If you fancy something a little bit more wild there is a very pretty virgin cove and beach ( Cala Biniparratx ) just up the coast westwards-follow the coast road to Binidali. A small limestone gorge with cut out caves near the sandy beach.

Cala Binipartrix - Valley and Virgin Beach

Along the coast between Es Canutells and Binibeca lies the pretty 'hidden' cove of Cala Binipartrix. A limestone gorge with a sandy beach at the end in a sheltered cove. Park and 10 min walk through the gorge bottom to the beach. (as a virgin beach there may well be piles of dead seaweed so take a little 'clearing tool' - if you don't like walking over it!

There are delightful narrow track lanes all around the north of Binibeca to explore - even the thwack of a cricket bat on ball at the nearby Menorca Cricket Club along the road to Biniparrell and Llucmacanes.

There are some lovely drives along idylic narrow country roads through the country side to the villages of Llucamanens and Torret. Torret is picture postcard pretty, leave the car and just walk through it. There are also some highly regarded restaurants ( Sa Pedrera des Pujol, Sa Parereta d'en Doro, Pan y Vino ) . Llucamances is a pretty hamlet and just a further short trip to El Grill, a favourite rustic Bar Restaurant (in old farmhouse ) on the airport access road ( you passed it as you left the airport !) where you will find some of the islands best grilled meat dishes and chill out terrace for evenings.

Visit La Rueda Bar-Restaurant at Sant Lluis, which has a counter with nearly 3 meters of delicous Tapas.

Watersports

Snorkelling

The deep beach is a major attraction of this resort with its fine, clean sand and a good variety of water sports and other facilities available to suit all tastes. Some of Menorcas' famous under water caves at nearby Cap D'en Font make this a good base for keen divers. And for the less enthusiastic divers there is great snorkelling just off the beach.

The bay is excellent for snorkelling as the water is very clear and calmed by the inlet.

Diving

There are very good dive sites within short boat rides from Binibeca with a local dive centre ( close to beach ) Triton Diving . Experience some of Menorca's famous diving around along this coast at near by Cap D'en Font.

Kayaking

There is basic kayaks and pedalos to hire ( 12 Eur / hour ) from the beach and at the eastern.

Kayaking excursions are available in nearby Cala en Porter. Nearby S'Algar has more extensive Watersports as does Fornells in the north.

Family Kayaking

Torret

A village straight out of the picture books, traditional menorcan architecture, with lots of bougainvillea draped over the old white washed houses. Best to leave the car at the entrance roads and just wander respectfully or as part of a cycle tour. Home to highly regarded restaurants for food lovers (Sa Pedrera des Pujol, Sa Parereta d'en Doro, Pan y Vino ). From behind the unmissable watchtower you can wander down to the coast at Cala Torret.

( 3km )

Llucmacanes

If you are mobile, this little village ( 2km from west Mahon ) is a stop off point along attractive, stone walled country lanes to and from the coast. A residential village, many of the former farmhouses have been turned into homes and holiday homes. A little supermarket, plus two tiny atmospheric (open evenings only) restaurants. Es Nit in 300 year old farmhouse (international) and Sa Vinya (Menorcan) . A third larger restaurant, Halliseys has recently opened up here relocating fom the Son Parc Golf Club. All offer a very different experience to any beach resort restaurants for something more special. There are walks into the nearby attractive countryside.

( 12km )

Mahon ( Mao Maó )

Mahon has a great mediterranean charm around the centre and harbour. Busy pavement Cafes and Bars, superb fruit and fish markets and all enclosed in a maze of narrow streets with architecture and many reminders of its Georgian past. In addition to the traditional the town offers a myriad of stylish shops and bars. Along the whole length of the harbour quayside (Moll de Llevant) there is an electic collection of Cafes, Bars and Restaurants for all pockets and styles. A spectacular setting above the huge natural harbour with ships and boats of every shape and sizes.

Sant Lluis

Is a mostly residential town with a good mix of little shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Its most well known sights are Moli de Dalt the island's only functioning windmill (open am for visits) and "La Rueda" a popular Tapas Bar & Restauant. In pretty neighbouring S'Uestra and Torret there are some excellent high class restaurants. Mahons trotting and karting track are also near by.

TIP Visit the large Euroski SYP Supermarket here at the Poligno ( commercial area) for a good food selection (english / german food items stocked) and keen prices. The Supermarket's (independent ) Cafeteria Bar offers a great menu del Dia/take away hot food in air conditioned surroundings.
