is located on the west coast just south of Ciutadella. Approximately 40-50 mins., from the Airport.
Use the Interactive Maps to take a detailed visual tour, with ariel views complete with additional photos and useful holiday information.
Cala Blanca resort lies ( 4km south of Ciutadella) between the southern side of a long a turquoise inlet which ends in the beach at Cala Santandria and a smaller inlet to the south which ends in the beach, known as Playa Cala Blanca ( see interactive maps ). So depending on your accommodation location your nearest beach will be at Cala Santandria or Playa Cala Blanca. A more recently established resort it comprises a couple of hotels at it's sourthen end (many more in the mid and northern area ) ,but further from the larger Playa Cala Blanca beach ) along with many private villas apartments and residental homes. Both beaches are of fine sand gently shelving into the shallow waters that are protected by rocky sides of long attractive inlets so typical of the west coast. Close to the charming former capital of the island, Ciutadella. This can be a confusing area based on tour operators descriptions and the fact that Sa Caleta,Cala Santandria and Cala Blanca with their respective beaches have now merged into each other ( particularly in some guide descriptions! ) . Be sure to check your accommdation location on a good map, to know which beach and facilities are nearest to you.
The beach at Cala Blanca has several large (for Menorca standard) beachside Cafe Bar Restaurants and childrens water chutes . A few minutes walk south of the Cala Banca beach is a small shopping area. Both beaches ( Cala Blanca and Cala Santandria) offers basic water sports facilities and equipment for hire. The other beach ( Cala Santandria ) at the northern end is smaller and a lot less developed and often visited by locals. Both offer delightful snorkelling on the inlet sides.
There is a pleasant centralised tourist area offerings Bars & Restuarants, Souvenir shops and basic children's play facilities. So depending on your location you need to head north or south.
Particularly in spring time and on clear days, you will be able to see the rugged , mountainous coastline of north Majorca on the horizon.
Cala Blanca area has a centralised tourist area. However south at the Marina in Cala en Bosch ( short bus ride ) there is a big choice of entertainments for children of differing ages. Further north you could try Los Delfines ( Menorca's liveliest tourist area )
Dive Cala Blanca provides equipment and tution and is based at the Cala Blanca beach end of the resort just above the rocks. Poseidon Dive Centre is based at the other end under Hotel Bahia in Cala Santandria
You can walk south down the coast to Cap D'Artrutx/Cala en Bosch which on clear days will give you the northern mountains of Majorca on the horizon
There is now a well developed cycle lane running down the length of the coastal road south to Cala en Bosch and north to Ciutadella. Additionally you can head inland to explore the small often single track roads (Camis) to explore the countryside ( eg Sant Joan de Misa ) or maybe cycle to those dreamy virgin beaches at Talaier,Turqueta,Macarella and Son Saura.
Buses
There is a regular bus that pendles between Ciutadella and Cala en Bosch stoping off at Cala Blanca in a couple of locations( Cala Santandria, Sa Caleta etc ) .
Ciutadella is the hub for the western end of island enabling you to reach most parts of the island with changes and is also a good way to see something of the other sights of the island along the way. Of the two waterparks this is perhaps the better one to visit.
A small quiet fishing village resort on the north west coast set in dramatic rocky coastlines. Best known for the extensive man made (Bronze and Iron ages) cave dwellings nearby that give a real sense of cave "living" ( though many caves were also for burial ). Some are sophisticated with central roof columns and 'windows'. Some are obviously younger and larger, cut with more advanced metal tools, but the smaller older ones gives a view into another world. A good place to combine with a visit to the beautiful virgin beach of Algaiarens and walks through the very attractive valleys of Vall de Algaiarens.
