Cala Blanca resort lies ( 4km south of Ciutadella) between the southern side of a long a turquoise inlet which ends in the beach Cala Santandria and a smaller inlet to the south which ends in the beach, Cala Blanca. So depending on your accommodation location you will use the beach at Santandria or Cala Blanca. A newly established resort it comprises a couple of hotels but is mostly private villas apartments and residental homes. Both beaches are of fine sand gently shelving into the shallow waters that are protected by rocky sides of an inlet. Close to the charming former capital of the island, Ciutadella.
Most suited to Families.
A mini-train, which is a favourite with children, runs along the length of the resort. Cala Blanca has a well stocked shopping centre catering for the general needs of holidaymakers. There are also a good number of gift and souvenir shops where holiday mementos can be purchased.
Menorca Tips
Due to the closeness to Ciutadella the beach will have more locals form the nearby city at the weekend but will provide perhaps welcome change to the usual holidaymakers.

Beach
The beach at Cala Blanca has beachside Cafe Bar Restaurants and childrens water chutes . South of the beach is a small shopping area. Both beaches offers basic water sports facilities and equipment for hire.
Childrens Entertainment
South at the Marina in Cala en Bosch there is a big choice of entertainments for children of differing ages. Further north you could try Los Delfines ( probably Menorca's liveliest tourist area )
Diving
Dive Cala Blanca provides equipment and tution and is based at the Cala Blanca beach end of the resort just above the rocks.
Walking
You can walk south down the coast to Cap D'Artrutx/Cala en Bosch which on clear days will give you a view over to Majorca.
Ciutadella
An taste of former elegant times with fine old spanish palaces, moorish influences, a wonderful old centre and a charming little harbour. Ciutadella was the original capital of the island lying at the western edge of the island looking out to its bigger neighbour Mallorca. A superb contrast to the beach and holiday resort. Great atmosphere and shopping and a place to wander the pedestrianised old city and its many narrow streets with hidden shops and Cafe treats. Also competes with Mahon for the title of the best music bars and venues on the island. The scene for the spectacular Sant Joan festival in June, when stunning native black horses parade through the streets and the brave try to "touch the horses' heart" as it rears in front of them.
Ciutadella
Ciutadella Pedestrian Historical Centre
Ciutadella gets its name from 'Citadel' -a fortified city. Allthough most the defensive walls were knocked down to expand the city you can still see remnents of them today- most notabley the walls above the harbour under Placa des Born. Walk up the Carrer Major from Place Born , through Placa de Catedral and into the city's famous Ses Voltes arcades.
Shopping
The resort has a pedestrianised shopping area in the centre of the town with souvenir shops, restaurants, and SPAR type supermarkets.
Ciutadella has a wide variety of simple through to very stylish boutique shops. Plus there are lots of Cafes for those little stops. Dont forget that Siesta applies here so from 13:00 to 17:00 nothing will be open. Evenings are the prefered time for shopping, taking in some Tapas aswell.
Menorca Tips
Just before the city begins entering from the ME-1 are a range of factory outlets for leather and ceramic goods. There is also a Lidl on the Poligno offering very competitive prices.

Menorca Holiday Tip
Mahon will mostly be written on timetables, signposts as Maó it's correct local name. Also posted in the local paper Ultima Hora Menorca towards the back pages are most of the islands bus timetables. You will nearly always find a copy of this in a spanish cafe bar ( any day in season will do ) - make notes don't take paper as its there for all to read. If you are staying longer than a week take a trip on this good network and see some of the other resorts/towns first hand.Ciutadella, Sa Caleta , Cala Blanca , Santandria:

Cala Blanca has a range of quieter bars and holiday restaurants. Just a short taxi ride way south is Cala en Bosch which has a lot more to offer centered around the marina. Nearby Ciutadella has a much wider range of Cafes, Bars, Clubs and Restaurants to suite all tastes. The chill out and dance clubs are located together down in the harbour area ( Pla de Sant Joan ).

Want to visit a Club or Music bar? Don't forget you are on Menorcan time, nothing starts to happen until after 10 pm as people will have eaten 'late'. Go much later and then it will be buzzing.

Water Park - Aquapark Los Delfines
Is a collection of water and dry fun. Water slides and pools for big and small with trampolines and bouncy castles for smaller ones. On site basic food restaurant. Afterwards you can visit Los Delfines commercial area with its wide variery of shops, Bars and Restaurants.
Water Park and Karting - Aquarock Cala en Bosch
Is a good clean collection of water fun and Go Karting. Staff are vigilant and the facilities clean and modern. On site Cafeteria. The waterpark is open daily from 10:30 until 18:00 children under two are free. The Karting track is next door open daily from 10:30 until 22:30 See web site for current opening times and prices. Bus no. 65 from Ciutadella. Open from May - October.
Menorca Holiday Tips
After 15:30 the water park entrance price is halved but closes at 18:00. Afterwards you can visit the nearby marina with its other small childrens attractions (Goody fun park ) with relaxation areas for mums and dads, have something to eat or just watch the world go by. Of the two waterparks this is perhaps the better one to visit.

Cala Morells
A small quiet fishing village resort on the north west coast set in dramatic rocky coastlines. Best known for the extensive man made (Bronze and Iron ages) cave dwellings nearby that give a real sense of cave "living" ( though many caves were also for burial ). Some are sophisticated with central roof columns and 'windows'. Some are obviously younger and larger, cut with more advanced metal tools, but the smaller older ones gives a view into another world. A good place to combine with a visit to the beautiful virgin beach of Algaiarens and walks through the very attractive valleys of Vall de Algaiarens.

Naveta dels Tudons
Naveta dels Tudons is a pre-talayotic burial monument (constructed around 1,500 B.C ) and considered as one of the greatest treasures of all the prehistoric monuments the island has. One of a number of 'Naveta' it is built from huge stone blocks which resemble an upturned boat. Navetas feature a doorway into a burial chamber where along with the bodies of the dead offerings such as bronze or china figures were left. Naveta del Tudeons is 13.6 m long with a maximum width of 6.40 m and height of 4.5 m - so not small!
