Location - Punta Prima Interactive Maps

Overview
Punta Prima is an established mixed residental and private villas resort with around 5 hotels catering to the packaged holidaymaker.
Punta Prima has a superb deep beach providing space for all with an area to the right reserved for the little ones.
There is a toddlers play area and a large Childrens centre. The local hotels offers a range of evening entertainments.

An safe and basic beach protected by attractive cliffs. There is bar restaurant with views over the beach and bay.
Commercial
At the back of the beach and along the promenade behind the beach are a mixture of Restaurants, 2 well stocked mini supermarkets and souvenir shops.
Banks, chemists, bakers supermarkets and good eating can be found in the local town of San Lluis ( 5 mins by car ) . 15 minutes drive away lies S'Algar a favourite water sports and diving centre.

Beside the many watersports opportunities also on offer at the sports club near the San Luis Hotel at S'Algar are tennis courts, bowls, football. There is also a bar on site.
Diving & watersports
S'Algar Diving located at the waters edge offer a wide choice: All varieties under the water and on and above the water with fast boats, parascending and jetskis. This part of the coast offers some excellent diving areas including Menorcas renowned spectacular underwater caves. The watersports centre is located at S'Algar Diving. Some of the caves reach back quite a way inland! Kayaking tours are available from the beach.

The locals area is criss crossed with "Camis" ( original rustic bridleways ) ideal for cycling in scenic countryside. These countryside single track roads offer several trekking excursions or bike rideAlcaufar passing the old coastal watchtowers long the way. Take the Cami de Cavall left of the beach area( signposted) where you will arrive 20mins. max at the picturesque inlet with Watchtower-take your swim things for the inviting inlet there!
Menorca Holiday Tips
There is large Hypermarket in nearby Sant Lluis and a smaller very popular supermarket Sa Botega at S'Ullastrar, on the way to Sant Lluis.
For Self caterers, visit the large Eroski supermarket at the Poligno outside Sant Lluis on the road towards Mahon. The independent Cafe Bar has not only an excellent value and tasty Menu del Dias/Buffet (witness many locals at the tables! ) but you can take it away too!
There are some lovely drives along idylic narrow country roads through the country side to the villages of Llucamanens and Torret. Torret is picture postcard pretty, leave the car and just walk through it. There are alo some highly regarded restaurants. Llucamances is a pretty hamlet and just a further short trip to El Grill, a favourite rustic Bar Restaurant (in old farmhouse ) on the airport access road ( you passed it as you left the airport !) where you will find some of the islands best grilled meat dishes.
Visit La Rueda Bar-Restaurant at Sant Lluis, which has a counter with nearly 3 meters of delicous Tapas.
Getting About
There is a regular bus service to Mahon, with onward connections to other parts of the island. There is also the usual holiday resort "road train" that pendles along the coast to other resorts to the west.

Llucmacanes
If you are mobile, this little village ( 2km from west Mahon ) is a stop off point along attractive, stone walled country lanes to and from the coast. A residential village, many of the former farmhouses have been turned into homes and holiday homes. A little supermarket, plus two tiny atmospheric (open evenings only) restaurants. Es Nit in 300 year old farmhouse (international) and Sa Vinya (Menorcan) . There are walks into the nearby countryside.
Torret
A village straight out of the picture books. Torret oozes traditional menorcan architecture, with lots of bougainvillea draped over the old white washed houses. Best to leave the car at the entrance roads and just wander. Home to highly regarded restaurants for food lovers (Sa Pedrera des Pujol, Sa Parereta d'en Doro, Pan y Vino ). From behind the unmissable watchtower you can wander down to the coast at Torret de Baix.
Trepucò
Open Air history: Trepucò is a pre-historic settlement between Mahon and Sant Lluis ( also via pretty roads from Es Castell ) . Has the islands tallest Taula ( circa 4m high!)

Getting About
There are regular bus services to Mahon and S'Algar. There is also a courtesy service to/from S'Algar for larger Restaurant/Bar choices and entertainments

S'Algar is one of the main centres on Menorca for scuba diving and snorkelling and the local diving company offers some of the most spectacular cave diving experiences in the Mediterranean. Plus there is all sorts of other watersports on offer. It is also the location of a popular bowling club-visitors welcome.

Sant Lluis
Is a mostly residential town with a good mix of little shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Its most well known sights are Moli de Dalt the island's only functioning windmill (open am for visits) and "La Rueda" a popular Tapas Bar & Restauant. In pretty neighbouring S'Uestra and Torret there are some excellent high class restaurants. Mahons trotting track is also near by.
TIP Visit the large Euroski SYP Supermarket here at the Poligno ( commercial area) for a good food selection (english / german food items stocked) and keen prices. The Supermarket's (independent ) Cafeteria Bar offers a great Menu del Dia/take away hot food in air conditioned surroundings.

Es Castell
Es Castell - is a delightful town with a great mix of little shops, Cafes, Bars, Restaurants and clubs to suit all tastes, price ranges and styles. Not just the extensive harbour areas but also in the many side streets. In the main Cala Fons harbour the old fishermans caves have been adapted by various Bars and Restaurants. Es Castell is a very popular eating place for lunchtime Menu del Dias and a great place to while away the evenings.

Mahon has a great mediterranean charm around the centre and harbour. Busy pavement Cafes and Bars, superb fruit and fish markets and all enclosed in a maze of narrow streets with architecture and many reminders of its Georgian past. In addition to the traditional the town offers a myriad of stylish shops and bars. Along the whole length of the harbour quayside (Moll de Llevant) there is an electic collection of Cafes, Bars and Restaurants for all pockets and styles. A spectacular setting above the huge natural harbour with ships and boats of every shape and sizes.

Located on the main road (ME-12) from Mahon to Cala en Porter is well worth a visit if you are in the area. "Famous" for Casino Bar-Restaurant (some of the best tasting/value) Menu del Dias on the island. Great Music nights: Tuesday evening improv Jazz in backrooms of the Casino Bar-Restaurant. Lovely converted Farmhouse Musupta Cusi for drinks. Both places are next to each other. Last shop on the right is a traditional bakers. Experience real bread made in real wood fired ovens in front of your eyes. Home to one of the best restaurants on the island Es Moli Foc in Carrer Sant Lorenc.

A double bonus. Undoubtedly the most dramatic nightspot on the island. Set high, literally in the rocks, above the sea it's an atmospheric Cafe-bar areas with fantastic sea views by day. From 19:00 the music is soothing ambient sounds to watch the sunsets by and after 23:00-dawn a disco with one of the most original locations and atmospheres with famous guest DJs. There is a entrance charge during the day which includes a voucher for a drink-It's well worth it.

Fort Malborough
Island history: Fort Malborough is an unusual 7 sided defence fort located in Cala de Sant Esteve on the south east edge of the island. An early 18th century fort built by the British and named after Sir John Churchhill - Duke of Malborough. The fort has survived many attacks and is now open as a museum and features visual media guides to the islands and europe's history during these times. Guided tours of 1 hour duration in various languages - plus audio guides.
