Overview

Santo Tomas is a self contained holiday resort of mixed private/commercial holiday homes at the resort entrance and around 7 hotels catering to packaged holidays. Around Santo Tomas in the area known as Es Migjorn lies very picturesque, hilly country side ideal for walking or off track cycling.

Santo Tomas was established before they adopted stricter coastal building controls so there are some larger hotels right on the beach, but generally do not 'destroy' the area. There is a natural pine covered hillside backdrop. Private Villas occupy area around the entrance to Santo Tomas above the beach (western end of resort ) offering great views for the independent traveller.

Facilities

Santo Tomas has 2 supermarkets, 2 bakers and a variety of small tourist shops, cash machines, car rental firms, a chemist, resident english speaking doctor, tennis club with floodlit courts to rent and a hotels with gym and email facilities, pony trekking and mini golf. A selection of bars and restaurants, floodlit tennis courts and mini golf.

For children there are a variety of climbing frames and swings and every evening at "Las Dunas" a mini disco.

Beach

Effectively the resort has two beaches separated by a rocky headland ( Hotel Sol Elite) . The eastern beach is deeper and in front of the hotels area. The western beach is long and thin beach with lifeguard , beach bar plus water sports including Wind Surfing, Pedaloes and Motor boats & water jet skis for hire.

Further westwards is the huge virgin beach of Playa de Binigaus which is extremley beautiful, natural and less frequented. Its also a favourite location for nudists but everyone is welcome ( no need to strip and plenty of space if you are shy).

Santo Tomas can suffer from quite strong water currents, so care should be taken ( keep within 40 meters of shore, make sure you ae not drifting ) and keep an eye on the red and green safety flags.

See and Do

Santo Tomas is surrounded by beautiful country side and being a little more remote than most resorts is very much self contained. Included Tennis courts, several childrens playgrounds and crazy golf.

Cycling and Walking

The locals area is criss crossed with "Camis" ( original rustic bridleways ) ideal for walking & cycling in scenic countryside.

There is a very attractive walk ( best late afternoon ) neighbouring Son Bou where you can enjoy a drink+Tapas at the ebach side Bar Restaurants or venture into Son Bou itself- See Photo Tour

Nightime Entertainment

A sunset stroll along the beach. There are 4 Hotels within the resort which all provide some form of evening entertainment.

You can follow a coastal path to the beach and resport beach bars at Son Bou, then enjoy a sunset stoll back to Santo Tomas.

As with most resorts in Menorca, organised evening entertainment here is generally to be found in the resort hotels and some bars. Mahon, Ciutadella and Es Castell however offer alot more with something for everyone, but with none of the "bing drink clubbing" to be found on Ibizia and Majorca. Menorca is not Majorca but that is why many people come here!
