Must See

Along this stretch coast are4 some of Menorca's famous virgin beaches eg Binigaus , Atalis/Talis ( can be walked to from Santo Tomas) and those by long walks or boat - Escorxada, Fustam, by Water Taxi or Kayak. Route to Escorxada beach

Tip. The trek is downhill if you start from Es Migjorn ( see route guide below) !

Family Snorkelling

The waters of Menorca are a real holiday memory. They are amazingly clear so even with just a simple snorkel you will see lots, not murky haze. And because the water is in such good condition you'll see lots of fish too. Many, many of the resort beaches have shallow sandy bottoms fringed with rocks, ideal for young snorkellers. Organised trips can take you to spectacular places by boat for something extra special.

The area is excellent for snorkelling as the water is very clear. Both at the eastern beach end towards Son Bou and where the beach dividing island ( Binicudrell ) is located are best for marine life( eg under water rocks ).

Local well established diving centre in neighbouring Son Bou Diving is located close to Club Sant Jaime at Centro Commercial. Sant Tomas lies close to the Cap Den Font coastal area which contains a lot of spectacular underwater cave dives. Plus they can transport you to any of Menorca's great dive sites.

Es Migjorn Gran

Es Migjorn Gran is authentic Menorca and the town with the least tourism influence. Surrounded by grand and beautiful country side, with many rural paths and single track roads ( Camis ) to explore. It is the starting point for drives or walks in to wonderful woods and valleys ( Binigaus ) and direct south of the town is perhaps one of the nicest virgin beaches on the island at Binigaus. It has three authentic restaurants ( Ca Na Pilar, S'Engolidor and Can Toni ) for a special evening meal. It is typically spanish, where the old men gather to shake their heads at the new things passing in the world!

Es Migjorn Gran

This is a great town for wandering early mornings or late evenings when the extreme heat of summer sun has gone. The "third" capital of the island and a cultural centre. The old town is very pretty and makes a great change to the beach, with a good mix of little shops to browse, Cafes, Bars and Restaurants. There are several clothes and shoe boutiques offering original items not chain store repetition. Childrens playground on the pretty town square (next to ice cream cafes!). Alaior has a weekly market plus an evening market with jewellery , other handicrafts and small boutiques.

Menorca Tips

Alaior is home to the Pons Quintana shoe factory shop. An name relatively unknown in the UK because most of its high quality leather shoes are exported to France and Germany. At the factory shop you will see reduced prices on beautiful high quality shoes and leather goods.
