is located on the west of the island, just 2km west of the beautiful old city of Ciutadella. Approximately 45-50 mins., from the Airport.
Los Delfines, Cala'n Forcat , Cala en Bruc and Cala en Blanes are all a collection of 'mini resorts' along this coastal stretch and merged with each other so you can walk to any other place. Los Delfines is the local 'resort name' for this area. The largest beach for this area is at Cala en Blanes, and again is a walk from any location. There are a few smaller beaches, Cala en Forcat, Calas Piques at the ends of long finger like inlets. The areas accommodation divides into package Holiday Hotels/Apartment Hotels and private villas. There is a wide variety of Bars and Restaurants across this whole area and for active children there is an Aquapark, where parents can also relax.
This is one of the most touristically developed areas on the island, but holiday villas are mostly located amongst the residential homes in quieter area so you can have the best of both world -activities yet peace and quiet.
Predominatlely a holiday resort, the shops here offer the usual souvenirs and holiday clothing. There are lots of childrens play facilities and the restaurants tend to cater for children too.
There is a local bus service into the nearby old capital of Ciutadella and a "resort" train picks up and drops off a various points in the resort. The Los Delfines area itself is compact and can be easily explored on foot.
Main Beach is at Cala en Blanes
Cala en Blanes at the eastern edge is by far the largest of the three and also has a couple of beachside cafeBars. Most people will eventually head to Cala en Blanes in the peak season as the othre two beaches become 'tight'.
Cala en Forcat towards the western end of the area. A long thin inlet with a relatively small sandy area at the rear. Along the inlet there are sunbathing platforms which helps with the crowding on the sandy area. No facilities directly on the beach but close to local facilites.
Calas Piques At the western edge. No facilities and very small sandy area., but little more hidden so you might be lucky that day
Cala en Brut/Bruc in the middle. An attractivelly cove with no beach but tastefully done sunbathing platforms
Beach Squeeze? you have a couple of options :- use buses to get to larger west coast beaches. Bus to Ciutadella then connect to bus with destination of Cala en Bosch or Santandria. Then you can visit beaches of Sa Caleta, Cala Blanca, Cala en Bosch.

Mahon will mostly be written on timetables, signposts as Maó it's correct local name. Also posted in the local papers eg Ultima Hora Menorca, Menorca towards the back pages are most of the islands bus timetables. You will nearly always find a copy of this in a spanish cafe bar ( any day in season will do ) - make notes, please don't take paper as its there for all to read. If you are staying longer than a week take a trip on this good network and see some of the other resorts/towns first hand.
As with most resorts in Menorca, evening organised entertainment here is generally to be found in the resort' hotels but nothing that would ever compare to the neon jungle of the popular resorts along the south coast of Majorca. Mahon and Ciutadella however offer something for everyone, but with none of the "binge drink clubbing" to be found on Ibizia and Majorca.
In the resort you will find the popular Plaza Domingo, a themed plaza, with an American sports bar, a quiet chill-out area, typical Irish pub, Spanish tapas bar, Mexican Cantina, an African Cocktail bar. It has a childrens play area, with all sorts of toys and games to keep the children occupied. These include ride-on toys, books, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation, and there is a Mini Disco in the early evening. Keep the children entertained within a safe environment while you sit back and enjoy a drink or snack from one of the bars.
An taste of former elegant times with fine old spanish palaces, moorish influences, a wonderful old centre and a charming little harbour. Ciutadella was the original capital of the island lying at the western edge of the island looking out to its bigger neighbour Mallorca. A superb contrast to the beach and holiday resort. Great atmosphere and shopping and a place to wander the pedestrianised old city and its many narrow streets with hidden shops and Cafe treats. Also competes with Mahon for the title of the best music bars and venues on the island. The scene for the spectacular Sant Joan festival in June, when stunning native black horses parade through the streets and the brave try to "touch the horses' heart" as it rears in front of them.
A small quiet fishing village resort on the north west coast set in dramatic rocky coastlines. Best known for the extensive man made (Bronze and Iron ages) cave dwellings nearby that give a real sense of cave "living" ( though many caves were also for burial ). Some are sophisticated with central roof columns and 'windows'. Some are obviously younger and larger, cut with more advanced metal tools, but the smaller older ones gives a view into another world. A good place to combine with a visit to the beautiful virgin beach of Algaiarens and walks through the very attractive valleys of Vall de Algaiarens.
