Menorca Where to Stay for Families - Best Resorts?, Best Family hotels?
Holiday planning: Make hotel shortlists, then check out the beach resort or the other way round?
Every family's children are unique, every family has different priorities. Relax we understand this and we really know Menorca from many years experiences so can help you find YOUR familiy's perfect hotel/villa/resort combination with, we think, better informed choices.
Menorca is often unexpected ( misunderstood ), has surprisingly diverse beach resorts, which means picking somewhere to stay daunting unless you've experienced it all like we have. It's all too easy to pick the wrong location for you and your family especially if you read the generic Hotel broschure / web Resort 'blurb'. Holiday Forums, Social media groups are full of these experiences sadly.

Where to stay - Our Family Resort Picks
To be upfront Menorca is ( too often? ) pushed as Family friendly destination but it's not for every family's taste . Menorca does not offer Salut, Costa de Sol or Majorca levels of 'buzzy' family Tourist entertainments in it's resorts.
Menorca not sounding for you? Perhaps Majorca , Costa del Sol or indeed back to Costa Dorada and it's big Waterparks is your best choice.
So why is Menorca so often labled the (young) family destination? - lazyness / ignorance mostly. What you can trust is that on Menorca there is no need to avoid the excess of other youthful partygoers under the sun. Teenagers are safe to wander off on their own and 99% of resort beaches have superb sands, gentle sloping access to sea and no booming beach bar PA speakers. If you think your child needs constant stimulation then choose your resort/hotel wisely - it might not be for you.
We've experienced many Menorca holidays as children/teens and taken our children there from babies onwards. Here are our personal top 5 menorca family where to stay resorts tips. Each is different, in their setting and on varying emphasis on independent or packaged holidays.
My Menorca
Menorca does not suffer over commercialization or has sold out it's nature and original charm to tourism. What all these suggested Menorcan resorts have in common though are soft sandy beaches, with safe warm waters, Red Cross ,Lifeguards and locals who genuinely welcome children. With attractions to keep the beach rats happy away from the beach and where Mums and Dads can keep and eye on them while relaxing with a drink.
If you've only experienced coarse brown sandy beaches, backed by an unattractive skyline of hotels with little natural green scenery then you are in for a treat.
Arenal den Castell
One of Menorca's more touristically developed family friendly resorts with an above average offering for younger children . This resort lies above a horseshoe bay with an almost enclosing headland on the horizon. It also means, the water here is shallower, calmer and warmer due to the very shallow falls into the water.

Cala en Bosch
Cala en Bosch is the closet thing Menorca has to a 'large' purpose built holiday resort . Has most varied accommodation (budget/styles)
There is an Aquapark, karting track and varying childrens entertainments, indoors and outdoors. Boats trips along the south coast so mums can experience a little bit of beach paradise too. The quieter areas to the west of the Marina have holiday villas and a commercial area serving families who prefer self-catering.

Cala en Porter
Cala en Porter has probably THE best beach for children on Menorca. Set in a large beautiful inlet the beach is protected and you can walk out many many meters on the fine sandy bottom. Villas dominate here with just a few Hotels/Aparthotels. Small fun park for younger children, great active water sports and MTB for older children. Lots more to see and do closeby with easy bus connections. Short Transfer.

Binibeca- Quieter Authentic Menorca
Binibeca is distinctly relaxed, authentic Menorca with most accommodation in Villas. A family favourite for regular Menorca visitors. Sandy, shallow bottomed beach with pushchair access path.
The Restaurant, bars and commercial areas are at the resorts two ends. Binibquer Vell and Binibeuer Nou which blends into neighbouring Cala Torret. Short Transfer.
Son Bou
Son Bou has Menorca's loooooooongest beach - 3km. The resort is set on a attractive, dramatic coastline. A larger resort, it offers more entertainments for children young and older and nearby Alaior old town for a change of scene for mums and dads. Mixed accommodation in Hotels and private villas are tiered on the hillside. Short Transfer.

Menorca Family Holiday Advice
Need some Inspirations for family oriented what to do , what to see and visit with the kids? Well Menorca is very much about nature and the outdoors , not theme parks, indoor games arcades. Our in-depth guide to what to see and do with kids on Menorca Tried and tested.
Menorca May half Term
The Menorca Sumer season is underway!, the sea is sparkling ( no peak summer suncream film ) and hotel staff are fresh. Pools on Menorca are rarely heated, may not be so warm so bring swimshirts. Evenings may require an extra layer sitting outside daytime
What to Pack? be honest you are travelling from UK so you need to wear jackets/layer for the trip to/from Airport - it won't be in your luggage allowance. We would however recommend packing suncream( expensive/'time waster' leaving until arrival on Menorca) UV is very strong this far south compared to back home- even a cloudy day without face protection will burn you in under 30mns.
Babies, Toddlers and pre-teens
Young children love Menorca's sandy shallow beach fronts. Parents might want it quiet or 'buzzy' for the kids - kids clubs anyone? Speed of transfers maybe your priority.
There are definite differences between Menorca's resorts. Each Beach Resort has it's own style. Some geared more towards bigger package holiday hotels ( Kids clubs, splash pools), some more to relaxing in individual villas with authentic Menorca close by.
Don't worry we've rated Menorca's beach resorts for family friendliness and suitability by child age groups :
