All your questions
What are you looking for ?
Is Menorca right for my Family?
Facts are, Menorca's tourism has grown up after the majority of spain's earlier tourist 'boom'. And the mistakes were learnt! The focus is outstanding beaches and natural scenery rather than mass tourism coastal hotel developments with man made attractions. There are no neon bright , banging into the late night bars and clubs in beach resorts ANYWHERE. No strips. No Holiday stage shows, Big Amusement Parks or Marinelands - BUT No 'youthful excesses' ( binge drinkers, stags, hens) you need to avoid either!
Most man made attractions are within the hotels themselves so if you feel your family needs these pick the hotel wisely - the Beach Resort is less important? ( standard of beaches on menorca is very high ).
Children can span many ages within a family
Is Menorca right for my Family age mix?Babies and Toddlers
Yes, though we often see people over worry 'their needs' Our tip they are very happy with Menorca's soft sandy beaches - pick a resort PARENTS would like
Discover the best baby and toddler friendly hotels in Menorca including hotels near shallow falls beaches, splash play areas and family friendly apartments that give you a good night's sleep.
5 to 12
Perhaps the sweet spot ages for child holidays on Menorca - young enough to still enjoy being around their parents.
Young Teenagers 13-15
Can be a tougher call unless they are into the outdoors and watersports. Often a Villa is a best choice : best resorts
Older Teenagers 16+
Yes if 'beach sloths' or they are outdoorsy adventure seekers but less so if a hotel cannot provide for them onsite.
Grandma/Grandpa
Their mobility restrictions many need to be accounted for - ie Resorts without hills - unfortunately many of Menorca's resorts are not like that.
Your BEST RESORT choice may be very individual so here's All Menorca's Beach Resorts and how we categorise them Family Beach Resorts
Where to stay Family Villas
Often a Villa Holiday can be all about the villa pool, walks down to the beach with meal times when you want, not guessing the buffet queue wait times - sometimes the actual resort is secondary - but bus connections can make a big diffence especially for older independent teens.

Mums Best Choice - Our Family Resort Picks
On Menorca there is no need to avoid the excess of other youthful partygoers in the sun. Teenagers are safe to wander off on their own.
What all these Family resorts have in common though are fine sandy beaches, pedaloes and bar / restaurants who welcome kids.
Menorca does not suffer with neon nightclub excesses, over commercialization or has sold out it's nature and original charm to tourism.
Arenal den Castell
One of Menorca's more touristically developed family friendly resorts with an above average offering for young children . This resort lies above a horseshoe bay with an almost enclosing headland on the horizon. It also means, the water here is shallower, calmer and warmer due to the very shallow falls into the water.

Cala en Bosch
Cala en Bosch is the closest thing Menorca has to a 'large' purpose built holiday resort. Has most varied accommodation (budget/styles)
There is an Aquapark, karting track and Family Watersports. Boats trips along the south coast so mums can experience a little bit of beach paradise too. The quieter areas to the west of the Marina have holiday villas and a commercial area serving families who prefer self catering.
Family Holiday picks in Cala'n Bosch / Cala en Bosch
Waterpark access Zafira + Waterpark
Cala en Porter
Cala en Porter has probably THE best beach for children on Menorca. Set in a large beautiful inlet the beach is protected and you can walk out many many meters on the fine sandy bottom. Villas domminate here with just a few Hotels/Aparthotels. Play areas, watersports and MTB for older children. Lots more to see and do closeby with easy bus connections. Short Transfer.

When to visit Menorca
Like every where in the mediteranean accommodation and travel budgets are most stretched in the peak summer months of July and August. But Menorca is much more than a lie at the beach destination. Menorca offers different holiday styles at different months.
The best time to visit Menorca will depend on what type of trip you are wanting.
Our family wants to experience nature under sunny skies
Visit when the weather is cooler and fewer visitors. Spring is a great time to visit with lots of baby animals in the fields, wild flowers and sunnier skies. Autumn offers summer long warmed-up seas without summer's bathing squeeze :-) Both great times of year to explore the many coastal hiking trails. Note that many of the beach resorts close down outside of the summer season, so for an early spring trip , late autumn trip you are best looking for low-season hotels in the urban areas of Menorca
May Holidays
The best time to visit for budget conscious Mums but what is it really like? Ask the question online and the reponses will be varied why? Underlying is the wrong expectation that people only want one kind of Family holiday. Swim and Sun!

Getting about - Public Transport , Car Hire
First off there is NO UBER on Menorca ( was rejected ), no private Taxi companies just one Island wide organsiation. Police will stop you and check on suitable seats for children.
Hire Cars
Menorca doesn't follow the 'normal rules' ie jump straight on the comparison websites - they are often loaded with 'come on' prices that can balloon when the 'surprises' are added on pickup/drop off BUT most importantly the good ones ( no deposit, pay on arrival,no waiting for offsite shuttle) are not listed on there!
Airport Shuttle Buses
NONE Public buses 1-3 changes with baggage + kids forget it! You are will need a Taxi ( but you need to bring baby seats/boosters ) or a pre-booked family friendly transfer.
Airport to Resort Transfers - options, prices, plus how long it will take.
What to Pack
Basic rule : fail to plan then plan to fail!
BACKUP Paper copies of important documents like Travel Insurance, Medicine Prescriptions,Boarding Tickets
Swim shoes!!! nothing ruins family holidays quicker than cuts on kid's feet from hotel Splash parc / Pools surfaces and sharp hidden volcanic rocks under the sea's sandy bottom.
Take a hoodie or cardigan , light wind-rainproof jacket, thin joggers ...yes we know travel time is fashion time but you only need it as a free carry on to the aircraft ( don't have to wear it plus filling the pockets up with frees up your hand luggage weight ;-). Why? If it's cool at night , freezin' when you get back home ...you're covered, literally :-)
Ladies something to cover bikinis, gentleman too (always wear a top) when in Buses and towns - you might be stopped. Be respectful of another culture's country!!!
Menorca Holiday with baby ?
We suggest you bring Baby formula with you. Plus pack some 'emergency' nappies
What to Pack April / May Holidays
In the first half of of the year sunny less cloudy days, while great, leave little cloud cover for chillier nights. Higher SPF suncream - UV burns skin NOT heat and especially young skin can suffer the consequences for life.
Travel in jeans or long trousers
What to Pack July / August Holidays
Light , loose clothing: The peak summer climate of Menorca is mostly hot, humid but with a gentle breeze so fill your suitcase with light and breathable ( loose fitting ) clothes. Dresses, t-shirts, shorts and skirts are great options to keep cool and comfortable and hand washable. One long sleeve top/trouser for sitting out ( mossies, chill).
Loose clothing for humidity but more importantly if mosquitoes bite through the material, they can't reach the skin. Clothing colors like red, orange and black atttracts mosquitoes more!
What to Pack October Holidays
Same as for April/May but with some additional warmer items in case of a big temp. drop - wear these on Airplane as it's October and you are probably arriving back to a much colder country.
Tips
Try the recycle boxes / buy a mini paddling pool - safe option for baby to enjoy sea at the beach (under shade)
At Menorca's morning markets buy a pretty large cotton spread allows baby and parents to share.

What you need to know about Baby Formula, Baby Foods, nappies (swim nappies), low Sodium bottled water and emergency medical help Tel. 061
Doctors - medicines at Chemists
Menorca tap water safe?
Not recommended for sensitive baby stomachs as there is a high concetration of calcium and chemicals against bacteria in hot climates so the taste can be strong/unfamiliar. For formula mixing bottled water is cheap and low sodium ( labelled with baby head symbols) is common in resort supermarkets
Baby Goods
Nappies : Dodot ( Pampers brand for Spain ) and often cheaper than imported Pampers - Out of resort supermarkets expect to pay 8-10 Euro for 32
Food in Jars : Most commonly sold brands are Hero,Hipp and Nestle
Baby Formula - Important
Globals brands may change ingredients to meet local country food laws and tastes therefore we recommend you bring sufficient supplies with you ( baby may have sensitivity to switch)
You can take ready made formula / mixes from Airport departure lounge stores in hand luggage as 'duty free' eg BOOTS service
Aptamil ( Cow & Gate ) is sold under Almiron brand in Spain. The packaging is very similar so easily recognised.
Holiday with children - Good to know
Allergen and food intolerences?
Fresh milk on menorca may contain higher fat content than at home - Milk alternatives ( + allergens advice eg Celiacs ) are freely available in beach and larger supermarkets.
Big Shop Supermarkets - Online + Delivery British Goods and Brands
Fussy kids - Imported brands are widely available in large and smaller resort supermarkets but expect to pay a lot more than in the UK.
