Best Menorca Markets to visit

Actually there are different types of markets, some only in summer , some evenings and during special events - they vary in size and what they sell. And of course fresh food markets

We think the best markets are the Night Markets held in June-Sept in Ciutadella,Mahon ,Es Mercadal,Alaior and Es Castell.

Morning Markets

Most Social Media / Forum questions refer to morning (travelling = 'Mercado ambulante') markets ( which operate all year )- they sell clothing, leather goods(handbags,sandals,shoes),costume jewellery that locals and tourists may want. In summer the items extend to summer dresses,swimwear, beach gear eg towels and beach throws and more souvenirs. Travelling is keyword as the SAME stalls may pop up in different locations.

Menorca Market Days

Mahon - plaça Esplanada (main Square 50m from Bus station )	On Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the year, and on Sundays, from May 19 to September 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Ciuatdella - Placa Born (main Square 500m from Bus station Placa del Pins )	On Mondays and Fridays, throughout the year, Winter: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. / Summer: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Es Castell - Placa Esplanada (main Square 800m from Church Bus Stop )	On Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the year 08:00 to 13:00

Summer ( Craft, Artisan ) Markets

From mid June to September ( see below for local information) Menorca's summer markets can be found evenings in many towns and larger beach resorts. They invite you to wander. Mostly artensal, they also offer some individual toys for children but mostly something fashionable for the ladies and ( often handmade ) artistic souvenirs.

Es Castell - Every Tuesday in peak summer on Carrer Sant Josep ( the road down to the Harbour from the main Car Park by the Windmill ) A varierty of Artisan Crafts, Food and live Music. A great way to combine a visit to Cales fonts bars and restaurant - this is an ADDITIONAL market

Es Castell is particularly charming combining all the bar and resturants of the two Harbours with Artisan stalls and half a dozen Clothing, Fashion and Shoes shops that open out of converted Fisherman's caves in the late afternoon/evening.

Summer Markets - times

Some of the beach resport markets are smaller versions of travelling clothes/souvenirs = not so great - better ones have Handicraft stalls ( Artesano ) with dress accessories, hand made craft and Jewellery and are nearly always in the evenings. They are only in the peak summer period mid June to end of August/Mid September dependent on location.

The popular Ciutadella,Mahon ,Es Mercadal,Alaior and Es Castell evening markets are ( better ) more Artisan / Eclectic : featuring homemade foods, clothing, Jewellery , decorations and craft objects. Great to take in along with Cafe bars and musical events which often accompany them on warm summer evenings.

Night Markets

Mercados ARTESANALES

Artisan markets during the warm summer evenings ( June to mid/end Sept) , great to combine with a restuarnt or try the food stalls with . Find an ideal gift treat for yourself , family or friends with unique handmade items. These markers often feature live music.

Beach Resorts - Summer evening markets

Mid June to Mid Sept markets with ornaments, handicraft and artistic products. Occasional music and hair brading

Menorca food markets

Often combined in the island towns with Artisan markets and live music.

• Mahon : Along Calle Nou and Calle S'Arravaleta , every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm.
• Ciutadella : Plaça de la Llibertat (Fish Market) ,every Weds, Sat 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Es Mercadal : Carrer Major , every Thurs, From 7.30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m , musical performances: from 8pm
• Fornells : Plaça de l’Església,centre , every Mon, 6.pm to 10 p.m.
• Ferreries : Plaza España (Ferreries). Sat 09:00 a 13:00 all year. Jun to Sep with musical and folk performances
