Barranc d'Algendar is a beautiful Valley to walk to Cala Galdana or in the reverse direction
The Barranc/Gorge is seven kilometres long, making it half the island’s average width. The gorge’s steepest walls scale upto 80 m at. Often large birds of prey will be soaring above.

The more dramatic top of the valley is accessed from main round-about outside Ferreries WEST! ( signs for Camí d'Algendar ) Pretty small track road that will bring you to dedicated parking. Foot access to valley ( see photos ) @ 200 mtrs.
This Cami is also a wonderful cycle route all the way to Ciutadella ~15k
The gorge is cut out of one of the soft limestone plateaus so typical of the southern half of the island. This ravine was declared Common Heritage of Mankind in 1998.
Remains discovered in Barranc d'Algender date from the year 2200 BC and are the oldest found in Menorca.
