And because the water is in such good condition you'll see lots of fish too. Many, many of the resort beaches have shallow sandy bottoms fringed with rocks, ideal for young snorkellers. There are also marine reserves around Menorca where the marine life is even more abundent.

Es Mercadal
Es Mercadal is a small town in the centre of the island, with rustic whitewashed houses lining pretty narrow streets. Lying at the base to Monte Toro, Menorca's highest 'mountain' (357 m). On top there are viewing areas and a small pleasant cafeteria with small outside terrace. From up here there are excellent views of the whole island - upto the bay at Fornells ,the northern coast and the rolling hills of the island's centre.

Soft White sands with gentle falls. The beach at Santo Tomas is one of the few resorts with hotels so close to the beach. It also has a long promenade parallel to beach , again a rarity ( due to environmental practices )
Es Pins beach bar/restuarant is good. Restaurants, supermarkets are all a short walk away
The local Virgin beach is a 20-40 minute walk westwards to Playa Binigaus. Nice long walks to neighbouring Son Bou beach and back ( sundown recommended )

Close by in Santo Tomas will be an access point to the coastal path 'Cami de Cavalls ' a rough track path that follows the entire coast. Mountain Bike or Walk it to a Virgin Beach, the next resort or just to enjoy.
