Actually there are different types of markets, some only in summer , some evenings and during special local events - they vary in size and what they sell. And of course fresh food and drinks markets

We think the best markets on Menorca are the Summer Night Markets held in June-Sept in Ciutadella, Mahon, Es Mercadal, Alaior and Es Castell and other smaller menorca towns.

Menorca's morning Street Markets

These markets open the morning to lunchtime, in the central squares and streets of citys and towns

Most Social Media / Forum questions refer to morning (travelling = 'Mercado ambulante') markets ( which operate all year )- they sell clothing, leather goods(handbags,sandals,shoes),costume jewellery that locals and tourists may want( NO FAKE GOODS! eg football shirts). In summer the items extend to summer dresses,swimwear, beach gear eg towels and beach throws and more souvenirs. Travelling is keyword as the SAME stalls may pop up in different locations!.

Mercat ambulant

Year round markets for locals selling basic clothes,accessories - occasional food + veg. During the Menorca tourist season ( May-Oct ) there will be more stalls and sell beachwear,leathergoods,shoes/sandfals, jewellery, souvenirs and misc. tourist goods.

Mahon Market - Plaça Esplanada (main Square 50m from Bus station )	On Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the year, and on Sundays, from May 19 to September 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Ciuatdella Market - Plaça Born (main Square 500m from Cathedral)	On Mondays and Fridays, throughout the year, Winter: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. / Summer: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Es Castell Market - Plaça Esplanada (main Square 800m from Church Bus Stop )	On Tuesdays and Saturdays, throughout the year 08:00 to 13:00
Es Mercadal Market- Plaça Pare Camps	On Sundays, Oct-May 09:00 to 14:00
Alaior Market- Plaça des Ramal	On Thursdays, throughout the year 09:00 to 13:00

Summer Night Markets - Crafts, Artisan

From early June to September Menorca's summer markets can be found evenings in Ciutadella/Mahon, many of menorca's towns and a few beach resorts (market Locations/Days ). They invite you to wander. Mostly artensal, they also offer some individual toys for children but mostly something fashionable for the ladies and ( often handmade ) artistic souvenirs.

Es Castell - Every MONDAY in July /August summer along the pedestrian area above the harbour. A variety of Artisan Crafts, Food and live Music. A great way to combine a visit to Cales fonts bars and restaurant - this is an ADDITIONAL market

Es Castell is particularly charming combining all the bar and resturants of the two Harbours with Artisan stalls and half a dozen Clothing, Fashion and Shoes shops that open out of converted Fisherman's caves in the late afternoon/evening.

Summer craft markets

Some of the beach resort markets are smaller versions of travelling clothes/souvenirs = not so great - better ones have Handicraft stalls ( Artesano ) with dress accessories, hand made craft and Jewellery and are nearly always in the evenings. They are only in the peak summer period mid June to end of August/Mid September dependent on location.

Best Markets on Menorca?

The popular Ciutadella, Mahon ,Es Mercadal, Alaior and Es Castell evening markets are ( better ) more Artisan / Eclectic : featuring homemade foods, clothing, Jewellery , decorations and hand-crafted objects. Great to enjoy taking in Cafe bars and musical events which often accompany them on warm summer evenings.

Mercados ARTESANALES

Artisan markets during the warm summer evenings ( June to mid/end Sept) , great to combine with a restaurant or try the food stalls with local produce. Find an ideal gift treat for yourself, family or friends with unique handmade items. These markets often feature live music and other cultural events.

Menorca Beach Resorts - Summer markets

Mid June to Mid Sept markets with gifts, handicraft and artisan products (jewelry). Occasional music and hair brading.
